You know ... as I recall, any time we took dogs in cars the whole time I was growing up, thier preferred position was head out the window, nose in the 55mph breeze, or in the back of a pickup, nose around the corner pointing directly into the wind., and loving every second of it.
And not worrying for a moment about being on the menu tonight. :-)
People crate dogs all the time to keep them out of mischief and especially for transport. Seems to me from my experience that if a dog had a choice of being in a crate in a car or being in a crate on top of a car ... the dog would prefer the top of the car.
